Disciple-Making and Church Planting

At Pillar Church of Woodlawn we seek to be a community committed to knowing Jesus and making him known.  A key element of making him known is the training of our members to invite others to follow Jesus, a.k.a. evangelism, and help those that are following Jesus to grow, a.k.a. discipleship.  We believe that this activity will lead to the establishment of new churches.

Because many of our members are active duty military, we know that their time with us will be short, typically 2 or 3 years.  Knowing this, we seek to equip our members in ways to integrate the invitation to follow Jesus, the making of disciples, and the planting of churches into their moves with the military.  The hope of this time of equipping is to enable them to make disciples and help establish churches no matter where the are on the planet.

In addition, we seek to train up leaders to go and help members establish new churches.  This is done through our Church Planter Apprentice and Internship programs.  Whether for the summer, part-time, or full-time for a year or more, we invite those who feel called to church planting, but are not yet equipped to do so, to join us and get hands on training in the methods of disciple-making based church planting.

Finally, we want to help other churches join the mission to know Jesus and make him known.  We do this through our Church Planing Missions Mobilization Center.  Through the center we host teams from churches from around the country.  During their time with us groups are trained in our evangelism and discipleship material and experience this training in action through working beside our members as they seek know Jesus and make him know in our community.

We pray that all of these efforts work together bring glory to God and establish the truth of his gospel on the earth.
